Uncanny.

Our microwave has a button that, once pushed, will generate a perfectly popped batch of popcorn. It's labeled "Popcorn".

I'm living in the future!!!!

Lest the reader think I've never seen such a thing before, fret not. Many a microwave in my lifetime has claimed the honor of the Popcorn Button. But they have been false witnesses, all.

I remember that moment perfectly.

I can't wait until we get the transmat, where I push a button marked "Popcorn" and get a bag of popcorn out of thin air. ;-) in the meantime, however, a button that magically cooks popcorn correctly is nothing to be sneezed at. ;-D

Wow, the only thing the “Popcorn” buttons on any microwave I've owned produced was an eye-singeing, cough-inducing, roiling mass of plasma-corn that set off smoke alarms 3 doors down.

What's the future like? Can I ride in your flying car?

Ah yes, I remember patiently waiting next to the microwave at work the first few times I popped popcorn here, waiting for the popping to slow, waiting for that moment when you have to leap in and stop the microwave, and each time being amazed that it stopped within 1 second of when I would've stopped it anyway. Now I do the unthinkable: press Popcorn and go back to my desk. All hail the one true Popcorn button!

I found Jiffy Pop at Target last week, and spent some time at the stove yesterday shaking the little tin pan back and forth vigorously as instructed while humming the end title theme to Real Genius. Ah, oily popcorn goodness. I'm living in the 1960s, apparently, and loving it
